Shining Hope Farms was founded in 2002 by Paul and Milinda Kirkpatrick in response to the needs in the community to provide therapeutic services in an enriching farm environment. The purpose of the farms' services is to improve the quality of life of the participants as well as their families through the use of Hippotherapy and Therapeutic Riding. Shining Hope Farms' programs have been structured to serve individuals and groups with a variety of disabilities such Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Down's Syndrome, Developmental Disabilities, Brain Injuries, Spina Bifida, Hypotonia, and the like. The clients of Shining Hope Farms find wellness, strength, and hope on the back of a horse.

The founders of Shining Hope Farms are Dave Ramsey leaders in the Financial Peace University and implement these principles in the management of the non-profit organization. Shining Hope Farms has received national recognition due to the positive measurable outcomes of its patients as well as its transparency of accounting practices. Shining Hope Farms is also a GuideStar Exchange Gold participant, a leading symbol of transparency and accountability among nonprofits that 0.5% have achieved.
